Have a problem with bugs in your diesel? Want to prevent bugs from even entering your diesel?

Diesel is organic, thus a food source to microscopic fungi, yeast and bacteria. Water helps germination, carbon is a food source, and there is oxygen and sulphar for respiration and trace elements for growth. Thick colonies of fungus can grow from seperate living independent cells, and can have a rapid grow ratw, with a single cell multiplying into a 10kg sludge within 24 hours.

"The De-Bug Contamination Unit is a static in-line magnetic killing device - leading fuel in and out of a complex oscillating magnetic field in precise proportions to the flow rate."

The bugs are exploded into tiny microscpic particles that are able to pass through the filter and burn in the combustion process, helping reduce emissions and increase horse power.

"The Tri-mag (three magnets) stack and unique flowpath ensure a laboratory kill rate of 98%+ in a single pass" (ICI Corporate Research Laboratory Bio-Deterioration Service)

Consequences of Microbial Bugs:-

  • Toxic acids attack the fuel system
  • Filters clog to bursting point
  • Faulty guages
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Toxic smoky exhaust fumes
  • Engine starvation
  • Reduced horse power
  • Injector nozzles, pumps, fuel tanks and hoses are irreparably damaged

Indications of your diesel is contaminated:

  • Odour: like rotten eggs due to the hydrogen sulphide
  • Colour: fuel is darker
  • Appearance: murky, slimy or matted gunk
  • Excess Smoke: incomplete combustion
  • A Sluggish Unresponsive Engine
  • Corrosion: due to acids produced
  • Filter Plugging: premature clogged filters

Due to these consequences there can be a cost:-

  • High, ongoing maintenance
  • High fuel consumption
  • Engines stop at sea
  • Trucks break down in remote areas
  • Generators break down during emergencies
  • Costly damage to the fuel system, engine and tank
