A wonderful solution to modern paint. Nearly all marine paints are high gloss to help avoid salt adhesion and wipe clean use. They also incorporate intense amounts of U.V. in order to protect from the harsh New Zealand U.V. (more so in NZ than most other countries). This product performs to the extent that you have varying degrees of flattening dependent on the ratio of flattening paste used.

It does not alter the make up of Alex brand paints or their ability to withstand the weather if mixed in the following ratios.

Semi gloss is achieved by using 1 part flattening paste to 5 parts mixed paint.

Satin is achieved by using 2 parts flattening paste to 5 parts mixed paint.

Flat (matt) is achieved by using 3 parts flattening paste to 5 parts mixed paint.

It is whiteish in colour so has litte effect on light colours, but does slightly lighten darker colours.  In the past we have used this on Maori Wakas (Large traditional timber canoes) - where gloss red is unsuitable and looks too modern. The addition of flattening paste solves the problem.
